2004 USARA Adventure Race National Championship Web Site Goes Live

The United States Adventure Racing Association took the wraps off a new web site dedicated to the Adventure Race National Championship today. The site, designed and built by checkpointzero.com, will be used by Global X Racing as its primary race management tool.

GREENVILLE, SC October 1, 2004 -- The United States Adventure Racing Association took the wraps off a new web site dedicated to the Adventure Race National Championship today. The site, designed and built by checkpointzero.com, will be used by Global X Racing as its primary race management tool. The web site can be found at http://www.usaranationals.com.

The new web site is part of an initiative by the USARA and Global X Racing to showcase the premiere USARA event of the season. The site will provide important information for racers leading up to the race and allow their fans to follow the action as it unfolds on November 5-6 in French Lick, IN. Features include news and articles about the event, rules, gear lists, updates from the race director, field reports and images during the race, and a real time online leader board that will display checkpoint data as it is gathered from the course.

"This new web site represents a giant leap forward for the USARA Adventure Race National Championship," commented Paul 'Yak' Angell, the owner of checkpointzero.com. "In the past, the only real way to get in on the action was to read a report after the race was over. This year will be quite a different story. The site will allow virtual spectators to follow the action as it happens with images, reports from the course, and a real-time leader board. Each of these features was made possible with readily available, low-cost Internet technology. We've had to do very little custom development, which can get expensive quickly. This added benefit makes the solution we delivered all the more compelling."

"After learning of our great fortune in being chosen to host the 2004 USARA Adventure Race National Championship in Indiana, my partner Jerry Lyons and I decided we wanted to take the race to the next level. The first thing we knew we needed was a dedicated web site that would allow the public, family, friends, sponsors, and fans of adventure racing to follow the race online," said Joe Lawson, co-founder of Global X Racing. "Checkpointzero.com had clearly established itself as the premier adventure racing news and media outlet on the web today. After we contacted them, it became clear they had the expertise and knowledge to develop and manage a first rate site."

"We are really excited about the 2004 USARA Adventure Race National Championship," said USARA President Troy Farrar. "I feel there are a lot of positive changes this year that will add to the teams' experience at Nationals. I'm looking forward to the awards ceremony and hearing all the great stories from the racers."
